K&K Mini Western Pickups for AD20SM

I just got done installing K&K Pure Mini Western pickups in my AD20SM dreadnought and they sound fabulous!! I can't get the smile off my face! Everything I have heard about K&Ks is absolutely true. The sound it just what it says.. "pure". I've never hear anything so perfectly natural. I am just amazed. I love the sound of my guitar and the K&K Minis get it spot on. They have plenty of punch for a passive system and they get every nuance of the harmonics and...

Hello! I just took delivery of a pretty fantastic B3... just an amazing beast! I almost want to say it sounds great "for a concert sized bass" but it easily out-performs the borrowed Taylor Jumbo I've been using and a friend's Michael Kelly (like a toy next to the B3!).

Now, my problem... The E string has wonderful sustain when playing an open note, but as I move up the fretboard the sustain drops dramatically. The A, D and G strings do not experience this problem....

LR Baggs Dual Element

Mysterious buzzing

Hello ALL:

I have a Focus. At times I get a mechanical buzzing from inside the body. I can make it happen if I lay the guitar on my lap strings up and strike a B, almost any B, B2, B3, B4 will cause the buzz. When I hold the guitar in the normal position it sometimes goes away, sometimes not. If I reach inside and "adjust" the ribbon cable from the Baggs to the volume control it wil stop. I have adjusted the bridge support several times, and it does not effect this...

Dual Source "Phase Switch" question...

I have a Focus Performance with Dual Source electronics. My question is...how do you tell if the phase switch is "in phase" or "out of phase"? The documentation only says that when the mic and pick up are "in-phase" the mic will be "twice as loud". I am trying to find the best live performance set up and keep running into low-end feed back problems. It would be helpful to actually know whether the "up" position is the "in phase" or...

Focus Performance Fret "Dressing"

I have had my Focus Performance for about a year and a half now. I play it at least every other day, if not daily and the frets have been worn almost flat in some places (this seems a bit soon for this to be happening, but...). So much so that the G string, especially, gets "notched" due to the "sharpened" edges of the frets actually digging into the string. This is wearing out the strings a little pre-maturely and causes some buzzing. What would be the correct method for...

Weight of Revival OM vs. the Competition?

Anyone know how the Revival OM compares in weight to the Santa Cruz OM or OM/PW models? Anything out there in this price range that is lighter in weight that is considered structurally sound? Any opinions on how weight affects tone? I tend to believe a lighter weight instrument resonates more freely producing the crisp tone that I happen to prefer. Strap Locks for guitars with 1/4" pu input end pins, anyone!?!

Hi,
I am a long time strap lock fan. I have them on every guitar I own except my Breedlove Custom DR, due to the fact that the rear end pin is also the 1?4" input jack for the LR Baggs system.
So, does anyone know of a strap lock that fits on these input end pins? What do you do/use? I currently have my strap over the threads of the end pin, and the pin tightened down on the outside. This keeps the strap from coming off when I play, but also it is always on. Ideas?

I have a Breedlove C20 r and was wondering if anyone has had success with K&K western mini pickups in a guitar with the under saddle stress reliever system? I like that it is drilling only one hole for jack and some glue.

the health of NAMM guitars

Every so often I see a dealer offering a good price on a guitar (this one is a C25/CR) claiming it was bought at the recent NAMM. Not ever having the opportunity to attend NAMM, what kind of use/abuse does a guitar go through at this event? I might imagine they are inspected and played by hundreds of people over the course of the event. Maybe could get more wear and tear in a week than the average player would dish out in a year. Or do they just sit in a stand and get dusted off by a rep...

Tape Wound Bass Strings

I'm using the Breedlove ABJ25 fretless bass and am looking for a warmer sound (less edgy).
It is strung with stock D'Addario EXP light-gauge strings, from high to low: .100, .080, .065, .045".
I'd like to try a set of black nylon tape wound strings but the lowest gauge I can find is: .115, .094, .070, .060".

Does anyone know if the ABJ25 handle the higher tension without having to fuss with any adjustments?

Pro Series Element Active Pickup

Helllo- I just purchased a Pro Series C25/CRH. I love the guitar acoustically and it sounds fantastic. I have a concern about the LRBaggs Element Active system. It appears the low e and a strings are not near as loud as the other 4 strings. I called Breedlove, and they said its possible the system needs to be adjusted under the saddle. I have to admit, I am judging this against the Taylor Expression System, which soungs great. Will I be satisfied with this?

Changing strings on a Breedlove Mandolin

Breedlove Atlas AD-25-SR Plus pickup problems

I've had my Breedlove dreadnought for about a year and not had any problems with it at all. Recently when trying to put a new battery in for my preamp, the electronics nor the pickup would work acting like I didn't even have a battery in the guitar. After examining it, I found out the battery wasn't getting properly pushed against the conductors or whatever the head of the battery is pushed against to get power. Everytime I would pull the electronics out and push the battery...
