Gold Harware to upgrade my Quartz |

Can I purchase gold hardware to upgrade my Quartz OF directly from Breedlove ? I'd like to install Gold Schaller tuners with Ebony keys and upgrade
my bridge with gold adjustment wheels. I have a gold tail piece and an arm rest with gold hardware coming in the mail, so I need to track down the tuners and
the bridge wheels. Thanks for your help on this.

Well .... I called the Breedlove factory, and took my question to the source. The short answer is NO, they won't sell me the parts. The long answer is
that there would be a warranty issue if I were to do my own mods. The good news is that they would be happy to do the mods for me , transforming my Quartz
into a Master Class Mando (at the appropriate Master Class Cost) So I guess I'll keep it original for a while. I'm open for comments or
suggestions...Thanks for looking.

There's supposed to be much more difference between Quartz & Master Cass than just the hardware; much more hands-on attention to precise graduation in
the carving of top & back, etc.
I like the ebony keys idea, but I'd as soon have nickel as gold anyway. |

You are correct MandoSquirrel..there are a lot of differences between Master class Mandos and the quartz. Maybe I misspoke. The guy at the factory said that
the hardware and bridge changes I wanted would require Master class appointments, at a cost of $600 I think I have seen a Quartz out there with gold
hardware, maybe called the Black Gold? I think the retail price I saw on it was around $1600, so that would be about right (I paid $1000) I just hate knowing
I could do it less expensively, but I'm hamstrung by the warranty.

Yep, Black Gold is a KF in black with gold trim, sounds about right for price.

I believe that the problem is that the hardware upgrade may not be a straight retrofit - particularly for the bridge, you're talking about relocating at
least two of the three screw holes when switching from the black powder-coated design to the Monteleone-style. This is something you want to do properly! There
may be issues with screw hole locations on the tuner assemblies, too (I would have to check further on this.)

Thanks David , I appreciate you looking into it. I haven't measured the hole spacing on the tailpiece, but I was considering an Allen tailpiece, which I
think they advertise as being a direct replacement for a lot of manufacturers stock ones. It would be super if the Schaller tuners would have the right
spacing too. I'd probably take it back to Guitar Center for the hardware change. They did a super job on the set up, and would hopefully be able to handle
a straight up screwdriver install The bridge upgrade is probably my lowest priority It seems fine for my novice playing. The nickel wheels won't match the
rest of the hardware, but my hand covers the view anyway. I love the warm look of the gold hardware , and really would like to do this. Thanks again for your
help David...
