Hey everyone.....Just wanted to invite you all to check out our myspace page. It's work in progress but coming along. There's a few cover tunes to
listen to. They were recorded live a few weeks ago. I'm not really happy with the recording but it's something. We were pretty tired. Did a gig the
night before to 1:00 Am.....did an afternoon bike rally gig the next day for 4 hrs then drove back up (40 or so miles) that night and did it all again till
!:00 Am. Our bodies and voices were wore out!!! Anyhow...we play there again Friday and Saturday and I'm going to try to get the sound guy to do a little
better on another recording. I'll put up some songs we do with my Breedlove when I get the chance. Enjoy!!! Myspace.com/treetopflyers

Thanks all....I did put one song on the site last night that I'm using my Breedlove on. I think it's the 2nd one. Not a solo with it but I think the
guitar cuts thru the mix with the electric pretty good. We don't have alot of control of the sound where this stuff was recorded because they have a house
system and a so-so sound guy. We'll be there all weekend..$$$$..and I'm hoping we can get more of the Breedlove on disc!!! I'll be putting
different songs on the site every couple weeks so keep checking it out. Mando...You gotta get out of the house and come check us out sometime. I'm talking
to a guy in SanCarlos about doing some bike nights....maybe we'll get to see you there if we get the gigs since it's a little closer to Bonita.
Peace Greg |

I thought I might make it up to hear you this weekend, but it looks like it's probably not happening. My lady friend keeps finding other things to do!(like
re-arranging her bedroom, her living room, etc.) Maybe when you're next in the cape; at least I know where to look to see where & when, now!
That the San Carlos Lounge, maybe? That'd be Too convenient; I used to live a few blocks from there.

So, those are live recordings from on the job? Pretty good for live "dive" recordings!

Oh Mando.......You should of skipped the furniture moving. I'm uploading pics from last nights gig onto the site as I write. Check them out!!! You'll
see why I like playing Harpoon Harry's. I used those songs from the cd the sound guy recorded because they were the best sounding. I have a Korg D1600
recording system and I recorded those tracks onto it....just did a little panning and put in some limiter as a final effect. No big production. Just made them
a little brighter. The place in San Carlos is the tiki bar behind Haneys Cafe on 41 and Constitution. Still waiting on a reply from the guy.

Greg F wrote: Greg how do you like the Korg D1600 and would you buy it again or would you go with something else. I have been thinking of buying one and also a PA
system but I am new to the this kind of stuff so I am just in the research phase as to what I should get for both the recording and the PA system. PA wise I
guess I am looking for something that I can use for small to med. size gigs that I don't have to carry a lot of equipment with and has effects for the
different channels. Recording I would like something that has the CD built into it.

That's a tuff question Ragtime. The Korg is pretty easy to use up to a point. It's has alot of features that I'm still learning to use but for
basic track recording, mixing and adding effects you can get a decent recording with just a few hours of reading the manual and playing around with it. In a
word it's fairly user friendly. If you are new to the recording process there are quite a few good books out that can help with learning all the terms and
words and all that stuff that can really confuse us novices. The favorite one I have is called The Everything Home Recording Book by Marc Schonbrun. Very
straight up and esay to read and understand. A fiend of mine has a Fostex VF80EX and I helped her get it going. I think it was easier than the Korg but I
haven't had the chance to hear a cd from it yet so I couldn't tell you what the quality is like. It's around $600. My Korg was in the $1400 range.
The have a 12 track for $850. Would I buy it again?...........No. And not because of the machine. It works great for what I was doing when I bought it about 4
years ago. Now I'm to the point where I need something with a bit more polished end result. Probably end up plunking out the bucks and going with a
computer base program like Pro Tools. We have alot of good muscians in SW Florida and I would like to be able to get some of them on disc with good quality and
at a fee they can afford. I'm a big supporter of local music in the area and there are muscians that stand a chance of doing better for themselves if they
have the right marketing tools and other than talent a good demo is # 1 these days. Now I'm rambling.....PA for small to med. size gigs......There's so
much stuff on the market now!!! I would try to stick with a good brand name like Yamaha. Muscians Friend sells packages with everything you need starting at
around $800. I have some Behringer processors and had a little mixing board from them. Nice stuff for the money. I've had zero problems with their
equipment. Check out MF. Stay away from the Nady stuff. Tried it, didn't like it, sold it cheap, lost money.........I could go on and on but I guess you
should consider what you want to spend(All), what kind of results you you want (recording), what kind of abuse is it going to need to hold up to (PA) and your
time and ability. Sometimes simple is better. If you need any details let me know.
Greg The only things I have regretted in my life to this point are the things I didn't do. B.B. |

Greg, I just looked at your pics and cracked up when I saw that you keep your keys clipped on your beltloop... I thought I was the only one to do
that!
Your band looks like a great time- I'd be all over that if I was down your way. |

How's it going orygun.........Thanks for checking us out. I've had some things come up missing at that club. Luckily nothing important. Lots of young
kids hang out there that don't appreciate what a man has to do to get what he has. My keys are the last thing I need to loose 50 miles from home and 2:00
in the morning,ya know what I mean? I keep my cell phone on the other side but turned off. It makes my amp "click" if I get to close and it's on.
I've been doing the key thing on the belt loop ever since I was over the road trucking back in the early 80's. Glad you enjoyed the site. Stop back
once in a while. I'm going to try to keep it fresh with new pics and music. We just hired a new bass player that's pretty good so I'm hoping things
get tighter. We're putting together some original songs and hope to get in my studio sometime this winter and get them recorded. Now if only we could all
just sing in key.....................
Greg By the way.....Anyone checking out my site.....Please go down to the my friends box and click on the Aimee Linn Band. These are some dear friends of mine that I spent a year or so playing with. Aimee is such a great vocalist and guitar player. I think her cd is still available and if anyone's interested give her a shout and order one. You will not be disappointed. SW Florida is such a great music scene and all the bands and performers support each other in such a wonderful way.

I wondered about the bass player thing; noticed a difference in the pics.
I've seen/heard the Aimee Linn Band, a friend of mine is (I think) an acquaintance of her. Leastways, they sat at our table during the break!

The first bass player had some differences with one of the members of the band for a few years now and decided to leave. We hired the other guy and it's
working out pretty good with him. Just haven't had time to get a good pic with him and the rest of the band.

"Knuckleheads", I think is the name, south Fort Myers, almost to San Carlos Park, about a mile north of the place you said you're talking to.

Know it well......Just stopped in Friday for a quick one!!! Or was it two??? Heh Heh.....I've been trying to get us in there but I was told they not having
bands right now. We're starting to take demos to alot of those places south of the Cape. I'm heading for Sneaky Pete's next week and where ever
else I see along the way. The problem with doing a "demo run" as I call it is we end up sampling what each place has to offer and it ends up being a
party run!!

I've heard Sneaky Pete's is popular. I'm not really a bar person, so I don't have first hand experience of many.

We have been so busy. This the first chance I've had in a while to check out the forum. Sneaky Pete's is a popular place. Can't seem to get us in
there. We did pick up a new gig at The Sky Bar in downtown Ft. Myers. We play on the roof!!! Kinda like the Beatles did. Played a gig last Sunday afternoon
while the Taste of the town was going on. We're there again this Sunday from 2-6. Big boat show in town so there will be alot of people.Very cool place.
There is another club on the second floor. Called the Brick Bar. Can't wait to play there. Great sound system. All Mackie. Really nice stuff. So
Mando....Come up and check out some boats. You should be able to hear us all over town!!

Thanks Jeff....Tree Top Flyer is such a cool song. It's originally on the cd Stills Alone. Out of print now. You can find it on ebay once in a while but
it's gonna cost ya anywhere from 60 to over a 100 bucks!! I think it's Steve's best cd. I had it and only paid $12 for it a few years ago then I
bought my black lab and she liked it better. Kinda used it as a chew toy. I bought her a cocker spaniel to chew on instead and she leaves my stuff alone now!
Anyhow....thanks again on the site. Check back on it once in a while as I have some things in the brainstorming stage for it.
Greg No don't know Steve but would love to meet him. Peace.................... |

Greg,
I took delivery on a Steve Stills Martin 000-45S and saw him play solo at the Park West in Chicago on the same day just last April I believe. It was quite the cool day. He is so awesome. I have always loved CSNY, especially CSand Y for ever and ever and ever...4 Way Street was my party album along with Dave Mason Live during my college years...lots of Yes and ELP in there too...some Trane and Miles too...yeah brother, those were some fun times for the old man. Nice to reminisce. |
