I've just ordered a pro c25/cr from musicians friend ($150 discount lured me).
Foolishly, unlike most of you here, i have not tested out the guitar before making this decision- i am basing it on everyone else's opinions/ratings. I am
taking a huge leap of faith here (as a pastor i do this often). I have my fingers crossed, as this would be my 1st "higher" end acoustic for me
(which of course it is not, in the larger spectrum of expensive guitars). My other being a Carvin Cobalt C780 satin, jumbo - made in Korea entirely.
This whole debate about where pro series are made has left me feeling a bit flustered as well,
albeit, I am of Korean decent - which is where this guitar's neck
and body originate from. Having an "American" made guitar is a thing of "pride" for me! In my opinion American made cars generally suck,
but guitars on the other hand are highly coveted, and revered! By the way, I am "made in the USA... born here, raised here!
Hey Breedlove... Why not say...
CAREFULLY HAND ASSEMBLED IN AMERICA/USA
Then the whole deceptiveness of your claims will not be a let down for future breedlove customers/fans/enthusiasts/owners.
I really, really hope that this guitar will be every bit as nice as people make it out to be... otherwise there is always the benchmark guitar Taylor 314 CE
closer to this price range. Either way... i hope it will be a keeper!
For now... they are SOLD OUT! I suppose that should say a lot!?!
I will keep you posted.
PEACE

Cuz' I'll tell you one thing you ca be assured of, nobody from Breedlove reads this section. Their one consultant barely has time to check in at the
Ask BGMF section of the forum.
And you are far from alone in the gambling world. Most of us have taken leaps of faith in different arenas and just learn a little here and learn a little
there from our mistakes. For one, I'll be 50 in a few days, I have made a ton; most of them selling any guitar I ever owned. Not doing well in the ex-wife
category either.
I will tell you that I know that they are almost obsessive about the quality of Atlas's. And that is not via telephone, it's via hands on management
in the East. So, you made the leap, but, you have 30 days to really decide with Musician's Friend. That's a low risk gamble to me. If I could buy all
my merchandise on consignment to see if it takes off at retail in my store, I'd be a very rich man today. Best of fun to you in your honeymoon period!

Thanks for your response OMEGAMAN, i appreciate it! It turns out that i will have to wait till June before the guitar is available. In the meantime, i think i
will go to a guitar center and test ride the guitar. The one time i did try out a breedlove, quite frankly, i was not that impressed. The action seemed high,
strings dull - this is in the humidity room in a guitar center where all the acoutics are hung. Those guitars all need new strings in my opinion!
Peace. |

Pastor,
Ahn-yeong-ha-se-yo. MacNichol-im-ni-da. Have you spent much time in the Land of Morning Calm? I lived in Korea (Busan and Seoul) for nearly five years. I had a friend in Busan who loved bluegrass. His English was slightly better than my Korean (which is somewhere below mediocre), but we had a few good jams. Which Breedlove did you play?

C25 | #4 | ||

I had the Pro C25 for about 4 weeks. It is a great sounding great playing guitar. When I bought it, that was the only Pro series at the store. They have since
got in the Pro D25. I didn't realize there would be that much of a difference in sound. Cedar vs: spruce. Also a dread vs: concert body style. The cedar
has a very mellow sound to it. The dread is a little brighter. So, I traded the C25 for the D25. If I could, I would have both guitars. But since I just bought
an Atlas 12 string, the budget won't allow it. Maybe later in the year I can go back and get the C25. Does the debate about where the guitar is made bother
me? NO. I like the guitar, the sound and the playability. As I said in another thread, even my Harley isn't all American. Go and play the C25, I am sure
you will like it.

I have owned a C25 and truthfully the less than transparent description of the guitar's origin irked me. Fortunately, I am in a Business degree program
and my classes have dealt with issues like this. Basically, my personal opinion is that they could have handled this better. Ultimately it comes done to what
the instrument is. These are great instruments that capture the same characteristics of the more expensive models. Mine plays and sounds incredible and I feel
better knowing that Breedlove personnel obsess over the details to produce a great guitar. Another point to ponder; would this guitar be available otherwise?
IMO No. Not at the current pricepoint or maybe at any price. Breedlove has a well establish domestic program and to produce a line like the Pro series would
require a significant expansion of facilities, capital investment, and risk. It's likely that without a offshore relationship like they have the Pro series
would not be.
And lastly two more points. From what I have heard, but not confirmed, the guitars are produced in a Crafter facility. Crafter builds some great guitars. The last point price vs benefit. Removing the origin issue and factoring solely on the guitar's virtues vs price, IMO the guitar is worth the money. |

I e-mailed Breedlove back on March 19 about this very issue of marketing their Pro Series Guitars as 'Made in the USA.' I pointed them directly to a
related discussion on this forum, so they could see what issues have been raised.
In fact, I sent e-mails to the following three Breedlove e-mail addresses to better ensure the e-mail would be seen and read by the company: info@breedloveguitars.com, press@breedloveguitars.com, communications@breedloveguitars.com. Interestingly, the company has yet to respond to my correspondence to them, nor have I seen them yet reply to the issue on these message boards--even after bringing it to their attention.

Thanks for all the responses folks! In truth, I won't get "hung up" on the where it's made issue... the bottom line will be quality,
playability, and tone which will be the deal clincher. You just gotta hate when companies bend the truth a bit to push their product (which is most companies,
imo).
MacNichol - ahnyounghaseyo! I've visited Korea 2x's - but was born in NJ. I'm a Jersey boy (not sure if i'm proud of that or not). I appreciate your shout out. I am Methodist pastor serving an Anglo church. Wheatlands... i've followed your thread, and would likely make the same decision: dread vs concert body. I like to strum more than moderately, as well as, finger pick. I really need to test out these instruments. I'm on the fence... Musicians Friend offered $150 off -and 15 months 0% no interest. I'm a poor boy... and bought all my equipment via 0% offers. I'm strongly considering a Taylor, 314Ce - i've tried them and love 'em. I will keep you posted. peace to all. |

I guess i have no place in this forum any longer... I cancelled my guitar order as it was backordered till June. I tried a few of the atlas series guitars, and
i'm generally not that impressed.
Nice to have been here... Peace - ADIOS! |

I finally tried out a Pro Series - D25?SR, and boy was it nice! I would've liked to have tried the C25/CR - but they were not available. I really thought it was an impressive guitar... a far leap from the atlas series (and they weren't a bad as i initally pegged them to be). Guitar Center had a memorial day sale for $1439.99. I didn't take the bait, but i will strongly consider buying one of these in the future. In fact, i believe Musicians Friends is offering a 15% off- which will be a better price than Guitar Center (albeit, same owners). I was even able to plug it in (Gibson Acoustic amp), and it sounded very clean... just right. I wanted to see how it fared plugged in.
