Parlor Posts: 5 July 1, 2008 23:56:59	Tags : None Hi, I'm new to this forum but I had to tell someone about my new purchase.I've played guitar for 39 years but I haven't owned a Acoustic guitar in over 20 years.It seems every time I bought a new instrument it was electric.I play mandolin also so If I needed to be acoustic I just brought the mandolin.I was kind of holding out for a Martin D28 or EricClapton model and I new if I settled for somthing less I"d be disapointed. When I heard about the tax refund I figured I'd might as well get a acoustic guitar.I'd just find the best one I could find for $600 and settle for that,.I really woud'nt play it that much anyway.I went to every store in town(Denver) and every time It seemed the Breedloves were by far the best sounding and playing instruments in there price range.I really was'nt familar with them but I was impressed.I finally settled on a AC25 SM since Guitar Center was blowing them out for $599.I really liked the guitar.I went in to buy it played it for 20 minutes looked to see if they had another one to compare it to when I found a AD20SR plus on the wall.I had'nt even looked at this model since it was beyond my price range but it sure was a pretty instrument.I picked it up, hit a G chord ,wished I had'nt played, it looked at the price ...$599?It was'nt on sale was'nt a blem I guess someone put the wrong price in the computer.I picked it up, went for a salesman and bought it nice case and all. I've had it for a month now.and I cant believe what a great instrument this is.My buddy came over to check it out and brought his 40 year old D28 with Brazilian rosewood and the Breedlove was louder by far and held it's own very nicely.My buddy was amazed .Now he wants one. I've played this guy every day since I've bought and I really don't think I'll need another acoustic guitar. Thanks for listening' Kjam

I love that thing. But last week, I couldn't help it and I bought the matching 12 string, concert sized. Never say "never" ;)

I am sure that, as you already know after a month of playing, that you won't be dissapointed. I see from your post that you play mandolin as well. Have you tried the Breedlove's? If not, you should go to a local shop and give them a try if you can. As you know, you can never have too many instruments. You won't be dissapointed with them either. I first played a striped ebony with Sitka and I did not buy it. I never could get that sound out of mind. About a year later I was searching for one and found another Masterclass striped ebony and German spruce. I didn't let this one get a way and like you I pick it up every day. ragtime man

Parlor Posts: 5 July 2, 2008 16:24:47	As soon as I brought the guitar home I took the coated strings off and put some John Pierse phosphor bronze strings on.I've never liked the coated strings,I'd rather change them monthly.. I was very happy with the results. I used to have 20 or so guitars and basses and a few years ago I thinned the herd considerably.I now own a Gibson ES 135, a Fender Big Apple Strat,a Tele,aHamer P90 special,and A pre Gibson Flatirons A model mandolin.Ive tried the Breedloves mandolin and there really nice too.I'm 54 and I've played since I was 15 and owned 70 or so different guitars over the years.I know you can never say never.I was playing a Maple backed Breedlove guitar (do not know the model but it was selling for $2400 ) at a music store and I've never played a nicer instrument electric or acoustic.I was riping off lines like Al Dimiola.I went back a few days later and it was sold.

Parlor Posts: 2 July 3, 2008 10:17:59	Kjam, I signed up to this forum today to also post about the Breedlove AD20SR Plus. Good to see you loving that guitar model too! The beautiful sound of the AD20SR Plus guitar is simply awesome. I have had mine for quite a few months now and the sustain and resonance on the guitar is something out of this world. I made the mistake of tweaking the neck truss rod and got it all out of whack. The Low E buzzed and it was driving me crazy. I also had changed strings from the lights to medium D'Addario EXP17 Phosphor Bronze. So I sent it back to the Breedlove shop in Oregon and Devin and Chris took excellent care of me. Treated me as if I had purchased a $50K custom guitar. Chris adjusted the truss rod for the heavier strings I use and the guitar is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! I can attack the Low E really hard and the bass is beautiful. No buzz whatsoever. My other guitar is an acoustic dreadnought Martin DSR which is modeled after the Martin D28. I switch back and forth between the two after a few weeks on playing one or the other. Both excellent guitars but the Breedlove is something special. The sound is just so sweet and delicious and the sustain of each note, each chord, sometimes sends chills up my spine it is so beautiful. The mids on this guitar are beyond anything I have ever found on any other guitar. I'd like to thank the Breedlove company, Devin, Chris, and this forum for a wonderful Breedlove experience! I am divorced but now have my true new girlfriends, Martin & Breedlove, a mutt dog, some cold beer, a back porch, nobody to bug me, and just the sweet rustle of the palm leaves in the wind as I stroke my baby girls each day after work. (Geeze, I sound like a perv! lol!) And yes, one of the Breedlove customs guitars is on my list...

Welcome aboard, by the way. I'm in Houston, Texas. It's a sub-tropical climate here with many palm trees used for landscaping. I have two 60ft Mexican Fan Palms in my backyard that sing in the wind and rain. With a healthy pulsing wind they can be quite loud. Many times I'll use their tempo and mood to follow along with while just jamming. Nature is a good rhythm player.
