Yep - it's been one of my all-time favorites over the years. I tried to learn it a few years back but couldn't (and can't) quite play it
like...er....Mr.Knopfler. I saw MK three years ago and he was just outstanding. He has a somewhat unusual style - all that fingerpicking on an electric.
Nothing forces or overplayed...just a great player.

Great song, lots of fun, I know you can play that. You will be the King of Swing one day. Cool nylon string version, lots of mellow feel to that guitar and
sound.

I just made chairs for the whole band for their upcoming world tour. Mark chose a red one. They are very nice people. |

What great sound he gets out of that guitar!
I think I saw his thumb come over the fretboard all the way to the D string which if that was actually what was going on is pretty amazing in its self. I really have to work at getting my thumb to cover the E and occasionally the A string. Also, some of those fingerings he was using were some really wide stretches. A great video to watch and watch and watch. Thanks p&w. ragtime man |

JR - that's awesome. And red is THE color!
Ragtime - I noticed that too. That guy's covering a lot of real estate with his thumb. As a guy who plays in the "classical position" with the thumb in the back of the neck, that technique just baffles me. Great stuff! Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a

powerandwisdom wrote: Being a blues player I sometimes slip my thumb over to get the low E and very seldom but on an occasion I can get to the A depending on what I am playing
but I can not imagine getting your thumb all the way over to the D string and being able to keep your other fingers in position. Just amazing to watch.

I can slip my thumb around to get the low E as well, but only for the F# on a D chord with any decent results. This musician is amazing! I was also impressed
with his use of his smallest finger -- great dexterity -- it's as though he has two index fingers on both sides of his hand.

Impressive, loved that right hand sweep thing at the end. Have always admired Marks playing and writing abilities.
