For your situation, either an oval hole or f holes would probably be good, but you may hear yourself better with an oval, & the sustain may be good in a small group, whereas the extra cutting punch of f holes may not be relevant, as it would be in a Bluegrass band, or a loud band situation.
Whichever, Breedlove mandos tend to be bright, so many of us use flatwounds to offset this,which enhances playability; plus they last longer.
For what it's worth,(NFI) the Quartz KO I sold a couple of months ago, when I was getting my Cascade, is available again. I can vouch for it as a nice player with good Breedlove oval sound.
