one with Sitka top both had great tone but doing the AB think I would have picked the adir. top. A nice small guitar that has great tone and great volume. It
can be fingerpicked with little pressure and yet you can really dig into it and it will take it. Great guitar and I would like to have one. Super workmanship
also.

To me this guitar sounds like a dead ringer winner, although I think Neal
has had some time with one somewhere or another, huh Neal? Here's as good of an overview as you could ask for from LB over at the SCGC forum:

Thanks Guys! I actually read that article on Saturday trying to find anything on the rosewood model. I am a member of thSCGC forum and have learned a lot
from the site. I am kind of torn on buying an OM with sitka/IRW or the H13 sitka/IRW. Seems to be a difference, but I just need to make sure I am not
repeating myself with something I already own. Thoughts?

If you have the OMM custom in your portfolio, I say it is time to diversify
with that H model. It is a stone winner I believe. But, hard to say as I have never touched one. Just my .02

Bltprf502 wrote: Boy that is a hard choice for sure. I guess I would sit down with them both and AB them against each other if I could. If I could not I would play as
many OMs and then as many H13s as I could find for a while and see if one in particular sound like it belongs in the herd. If you have an OM already I would
tend to think more about the H13. It is a wonderful sounding guitars at least the ones I have played have been excellent.

Ok, then let me throw something else in there.... Yes I am looking at an IRW/sitka H13, but the OM I am looking at is Brazillian/sitka which I think would be a
totally different animal. I actually have found a super deal on a this brazillian/sitka OM SCGC. I have not played it and will probably have to order it to
play it as it is far away from where I live. Anyone have any brazillian rosewood guitars?

I have played an H13 with a German spruce top and Brazilian back/sides. It was a very nice guitar for sure, but I actually liked the standard sitka/hog version
just as much. Something about hog on this model just feels "right." Now a red spruce (Adirondack) over hog would be very interesting.

I have played an H13 with the red spruce top and rosewood back and one with the Sitka spruce top with rosewood back. The red spruce was wonderful and very
powerful. Understand I am not saying the Sitka was bad I would have taken it home in a heartbeat as they both had great tone but the adir. was just something
else.

Hey ragtime man,
Were those rosewood models customs? I ask because the stock H13 models are sitka/hog. Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a

I called SC and they said anything but sitka/hog is custom. The one I am looking at is sitka/IRW with haircut peg head and sunburst top. Nice guitar! However I
am still torn about it. I guess it would be different if I had played it, but I haven't and cant until I buy it. I could always return it but that gets
costly. Th e reason I am so lured is because the price is good. It actually belongs to a SC employee so I know it is right as far as no problems. It is
interesting to me the standard is Sitka/hog. I would think theuy have it that way for a reson. This is the kind of logic you are left with when you cant walk
in and play the guitar.

I may be wrong, but I think Richard Hoover was trying to deliver his interpretation of the old small-bodied Gibsons when he designed the H13. I believe
mahogany was the standard on those old guitars, with some exceptions. I remember seeing an H13 rosewood with a peg head (non slot) a few years ago for sale on
the forums. Seemed like a nice guitar and I was very tempted (which happens occasionally...).

I just played another H13 this Wednesday evening. They are really sweet guitars. This one was mahogany. I assumed the top was Sitka but I didn't check. Anyway it was a great sounding guitar although the adir/rosewood I still think is my favorite. |

One thing we haven't discussed is the 13-fret design itself. I remember when I first played one of these being a bit surprised by this. I had just assumed
it was a 12-fretter when I picked it up - took me minute to adjust.
I agree, these are really nice guitars. Santa Cruz guitars, in general, feel lightly built and have a great open sound right out of the gate. Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a

It is modeled after the old Nick Lucas model. They are 13 fret models as there are also H12 and H14 as well. I have also found an H13 in the standard Hog/sitka
that is also for sale. This is the standard cinfiguaration for the H13. Man they both are so nice. I have heard that I would not be dipleased with any of the
H13's.

I am also looking at a custom OM/PW from SCGC that has Carpathian/IRW which is awesome. I just Love OM's! I will decide and buy what is right at the time.
H13 is nice, but I have spoken to several that say not everyone loves them as far as playing and are in love with their looks. I'm not going down that
road.... Its about the sound to me more than anything!

Bltprf502 wrote: I'd suggest getting both examples in your hands to see which you prefer. Sizewise, the OM/PW will be very similar to your OMM. The H13 will give you a very different vibe and body size. There are so many great OMs out there, including many by independent luthiers. Good luck! Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a
